Artist in RESIDENCE

UNTAMED & In Bloom

A body of work rooted in wildness, resilience and unpolished beauty.

February  1st - March 15th

An Artist Residency is a season, set apart, where daily life softens so creative work can rise to the surface.

In my home studio, I’m shaping my own version, grounded in presence, exploration, and intentional practice. This self-directed residency is both sanctuary and catalyst: a place to listen closely, explore deeply, and let my artwork unfold in it’s own rhythm.

I would love if you joined me on this journey!

If they are lucky, there comes a time in an artist’s life when they decide to take the art seriously. Sometimes this comes as a result of accolades, awards or representation. Other times it comes with the realization that, in art, there are no true gatekeepers.

Yes, there are “experts” and “aficionados.” But the truth is this: Art, the creation of and appreciation for, is (or should be) a deeply personal experience. No one can tell you that your artwork or opinion of it is wrong. And the only way to evolve is through years of dedication and practice. This goes for both the artist and the collector. After all, the act of curating a collection (especially a personal collection) is a form of expression in and of itself.

It is for this reason that I am inviting you behind the scenes to witness and experience the evolution of my next body of work. One in which I allow myself to truly create with abandon.

The Inspiration

The Untamed & In Bloom Residency

I’m creating a new body of oil paintings centered on wild floral arrangements that feel uncontained by the canvas. Blooms and foliage that stretch, spill, and reach beyond their edges. On a literal level, this work is a celebration of the resilience and vitality of the natural world. I’m drawn to that quiet strength and persistent beauty.

On a deeper level, this collection is an exploration of the untamed woman; of beauty that is powerful rather than polished, of strength that comes from growth and resilience. I look to nature not only for visual inspiration, but for wisdom. It reminds us that softness and power can exist together, and that wildness is not something to tame, but rather something to honor, both in nature and in ourselves.

Artistically, this residency is an invitation for me to expand. I’m painting larger, more gesturally, and with greater intuition than before, allowing the work to unfold through movement, layered color, and experimentation. This season is about trusting instinct, embracing risk, and letting the paintings breathe and evolve rather than controlling every outcome

Untamed and In Bloom is both a creative and personal expansion. My work has always been rooted in close observation of nature, a deep love of color, and years of working slowly in oil, a medium I’m drawn to for its natural origins, depth, and ability to hold complexity and nuance. This residency builds on that foundation while giving me permission to move beyond it.

As a patron, you’ll be invited into the process: the inspiration, the questions, the messy middles, and the quiet moments of reflection as the work takes shape. While I will share glimpses publicly, the deeper story of this residency will be shared ONLY with those who choose to be a part of it.

If you feel drawn to this journey, there are several ways to join as a patron below.

All are deeply appreciated!

Answers to Your Questions

What is an Artist Residency?

Traditionally, an artist residency provides time, space, and resources for artists to focus deeply on their work, often including housing, a stipend, and access to an engaged audience. These opportunities, however, are often inaccessible to artists with caregiving responsibilities.

As a single mother, participating in a traditional residency isn’t realistic for me. This self-led residency is part of a growing movement among mother artists to create meaningful, supported creative work within the realities of everyday life.

What is a Patron of the Arts?

A patron of the arts is someone who supports creative work, helping artists bring new ideas and projects into the world. Historically and today, many artists have relied on patrons to ease the financial burden of making art.

For this residency, I’ve chosen to keep the entry point very accessible so anyone who feels drawn to the work can take part and follow along behind the scenes.

How can I support this project?

If you’d like to witness this body of work as it unfolds, you’re invited to join as a patron. Contributions help cover materials like paint, brushes, and canvas, and in return you’ll receive behind-the-scenes access and, depending on the tier, keepsakes or artwork created during the residency.

  • This is for anyone! You do not need any previous knowledge of art or residencies to enjoy this experience. If you feel drawn to witnessing the making of art and supporting a slower, more intentional creative process, you belong.

  • You are supporting the creation of a full body of work. This residency gives me the time, space, and resources to create a new collection of oil paintings, including onw very large-scale painting and several smaller pieces, without rushing the process or dividing my attention. Your support helps cover materials, studio time, and the freedom to work intuitively and expansively, while also inviting you behind the scenes as the work takes shape.

  • Each tier includes specific offerings that are outlined below. Some offerings, such as behind-the-scenes updates, begin during the residency itself. (These will be sent by email and hosted on a private blog.) Others, including prints, books, or original artwork, will be delivered once the residency and collection are complete. I will share a general timeline as the project unfolds and will keep everyone informed along the way.

  • You are welcome to do that. Joining the residency offers a different experience. It invites you into the making itself, with early access, insight into the process, and offerings that will not be available later. For collectors, there is also first access to the finished work. For others, the value lies in connection rather than ownership.

  • Social media tends to show fragments. This residency offers continuity and depth. Instead of isolated posts, you will experience the unfolding of a collection from the inside, with context, intention, and space for reflection. It is slower, genuine, and more intentional than public platforms allow.

  • Not in a formal or instructional way. I will share thoughts, insights, and aspects of my process. It may be informative, but this is not a course or a workshop. The intention is to invite you into the creative experience rather than teach specific techniques.

  • Yes. THIS IS NOT a membership or subscription. It is a one-time contribution. Untamed and In Bloom is a standalone residency focused on this specific collection. There is no obligation beyond this season and no expectation of continued support unless something else resonates with you in the future.

  • You will still be able to access past updates and materials included in your tier. This experience is meant to be forgiving and flexible, just like the natural world that inspires it.

  • That is welcome. Some people join because they believe in supporting artists and creative work as a form of reciprocity. If you would like to make a simple donation you can do so here. (at the bottom of the page)
